Asphalt layer 1 is on all of the closed portion of Main Street!
It’s not meant to be a perfect layer, it’s the base coat.
You can walk on it - but NO you can’t drive on it yet!!
This base layer sets the stage for the next step of restoration.
Remember those 38 utility access hole cones and covers? (manholes)
They have to be repaired or replaced and reset onto their respective pipes before that last layer of asphalt is applied.
And there’s a few more cement spaces to be poured this week.
Plus some brick repairs. The brick trim along the sidewalks remain, only the end corners were removed for ADA compliance to make better access.
PLUS the top layer of asphalt and stripes and misc other reconstructions.
Will that all get done before the RED FLANNEL DAY PARADE?
YES!
AND IT WILL BE DONE ON TIME For the QUEEN’S PAGENT on Sept 30th.
